The SES Solar Co-operative Ltd.'s Board of Directors has met every two weeks since the end of June. The Board of Directors has been developing plans with the City of Saskatoon for a solar installation at the Landfill Gas Generating Station adjacent to Circle Drive South. Those plans are proceeding well. The solar installation at the Landfill Gas Generating Station is being planned as a joint installation between the SES Solar Co-operative Ltd. and Saskatoon Light & Power (SL&P), the owner of the Landfill Gas Generating Station.

The Landfill Gas Generating Station site offers several advantages including: a secure location, relatively high visibility, excellent access to sunlight, assured use of the site for 25 years, and the ability for the SES Solar Co-operative Ltd. to provide electricity to an environmentally friendly and socially useful project. Other advantages of the plan include the opportunity to build a partnership with our municipal utility, and the opportunity to be part of a research project in which the electricity production data that is collected will be available to all SES Solar Co-operative Ltd. members. We are targeting to have this installation operational by July 2016.

The Board of Directors has been working to develop special environmental criteria that will influence the solar installation at the Landfill Gas Generating Station site.

The SES Solar Co-operative Ltd. is continuing to move towards a more sustainable Saskatchewan.
